Our Story

Cooks Tavern is a vibrant neighborhood restaurant in Tacoma's Proctor District known for its creative comfort foods offered with a regional twist. We offer an intriguing and ever-changing menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, taking diners on a culinary journey around the world.

The restaurant's name is a homage to all food makers, from legendary chefs to home cooks.

 Black-and-white portraits of culinary icons adorn the walls as an ongoing tribute to cooks past and present.

We pride ourselves on the creativity demonstrated by our ever-changing quarterly rotating menu themes that explore a different region and culture. Recent menus offered include the flavors from Jamaica 

to the Texas Hill Country, to Barcelona, to Brazil. 

Though the menu constantly evolves, classic American comfort foods are always available, prepared with quality, fresh & local ingredients. 

Popular breakfast items include eggs benedict, chicken & waffles, Crescent City beignets & Biscuits & Gravy. For lunch, we serve half pound burgers, crispy fried chicken sandwiches or our signature tavern salad. For dinner, we’ve got Billy Bob’s Charbroiled Pork Chop, King Salmon, and brief selection of vegetarian items. 

With an ambiance that is cozy yet vibrant, Cooks sources local art & thematic music attuned to the current menu offered.  We also are fortunate to have an attentive staff that provides a welcoming experience for everyone from families to friends as well as offering a fine setting for business lunch & dinner.
